I’ve experienced Tanabe & Mitsubishi Air compressors.
After overhauling, the gaskets to be fitted tight thus all the nuts must be tighten properly. If not the gasket will burst from the high pressure air. Double check and tighten to make sure.
When reassembling, make sure that all the surface is brushed clean, if surface is not even, i’d apply silicon to the surface.Problems that i’ve faced are Mac trip and Low lub oil pressure alarm.
1) Due to prolong running causing the lub oil to heat up and become less viscious. Pressure slightly raised can be adjusted by the pressure regulating valve.
2) Inside the pressure regulating valve, a steel ball is defective( Can be seen its no longer a circle, one side is flattened), thus not able to regulate the pressure.04/09/2020 at 07:50 #13514Once a per month or 2 depending on your Main air compresser (MAC), its important to replace your 1st stage suction valve and 2nd Delivery valve / suction valve.
especially prior to arrvial port, you wouldnt want you MAC to give problems during manuvering. One grave mistake is not noticing the difference between the 2nd stage suction and 2nd stage delivery valves.
Time to time, take your MAC performance.
1)Log down the Time which MAC auto start to fill up your air bottle
2)Time when bottle is filled and MAC autostop
3)Time when the MAC auto start again. From the Time logged above, find out How long does your MAC takes to fill up the bottle & How long does it takes for air to be consumed for your MAC to start. ( shorter time indicates Air leakage somewhere )
You could monitor Air consumption by day also, Typical ship 3-4hours runnning hour / day.
I have experienced excessive air leakage from the control air from ME exhaust valve. Control air which controls the valve closing in the exhaust valve air cylinder.

initial troubleshootings
1) piston ring brokenChanged all the piston rings and inspection of liner. All okay.
& it turns out there is a broken oring on the piston pin on tanabe MAC, which not everyone knew of or change during major overhaul.
