This is probably one of the most contentious conversation topic ever. The agony during CNY when kaypoh relatives try to compare their children’s salaries..
Shipping itself already has a wide range of different departments (technical, crew, purchasing, operations, brokering and chartering, cargo planning, finance/accounts, etc.)
Sailing on different types of ships comes with different sets of skills and risks = different salary scheme, so please keep that in mind before choosing which shipping company to sail with.
To the seniors: If possible, please contribute information about your companies’ pay scale for our future juniors.
Container:
Chief engineer USD 7856 + performance and rejoining bonus = USD 8576
Second engineer USD 6433 + performance and rejoining bonus = USD 7202
Third engineer USD 3477 + performance and rejoining bonus = USD 3827
Fourth engineer USD 3081 + rejoining bonus = USD 3281

02/09/2020 at 05:09 #13441Pacc is considered one of the better paying company. But choose a company to sail with doesnt just necessary look at pay alone.
Just sharing for juniors ah, choose wisely.
1) PROMOTION; people can stuck for very long time, like OOCL offers high pay but slow promo, we all will leave early.
2) TIME TO GET SHIP; some can wait half a year to get ship, some wait 1 month can get.
3) WELFARE ; Got internet? Alcohol policy? Food? < game changers
4) UMS / NON UMS; tell you this one really make damn lots of different
5) NATURE OF SHIP; Container or bulk? i think you all know which is more hectic. right??
6) SHIPS; possibility of going 20 year old ships or 5 year old ship.
7) SALARY -
