B) “Officer” tend to mean ship crew who are NOT ratings. (easily put, “Officers” = the ones with rank.)
C) Number of junior officers and ratings may vary, due to ship size and/or company policies.
D) The cadets are usually at the very bottom of the hierarchy, despite identity as “cadet officer”.
E) Chief “Officer” may also be called Chief “Mate”, same for Second and Third “Officer”.
F) Second Engineer may also be called “1st Assistant Engineer”, according adjust for Third and Fourth Engineer.
