- Due to global warming, and amendments to annex 6, IMO implemented seemp to reduce greenhouse emission
- It is a requirement for all ship to carry international energy efficiency cert
- SEEMP is To improve the energy efficiency of a ship in a cost-effective manner.
Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan key points
- Enhancement of ship efficiency
- Reduce in fuel consumption
- Decrease in Greenhouse gas emission
- Through the process of planning, implementing, monitoring, and improvement
- 2 parts to SEEMP, part 1 is ship management plan to improve energy efficiency, part 2 is ship fuel oil consumption data collection plan
- Part 2 is the ship fuel oil consumption & data collection plan, gives a method for collecting data on fuel consumption, distances and time to give co2 emission measurement, through bunker delivery note , flow meters or bunker fuel oil tank
FRAMEWORK
1) Planning – determine the current Status of ship energy usage and expected improvement
2) Ship specific measures
3) Company specific measures- company establish energy management plan to manage fleet
4) Human resource development – rasie awareness and provide trainingfor personnel both shore and onboard
5) Goal setting – specific target of EEOI, to serve as a signal which people conscious of and create incentive for implementation
6) Implement and record keeping – implement system and period for each measure
7) Monitoring – EEOI for monitoring
8) Self-evaluation and implement – feedback
